Travel by Bus
Taking the bus can be convenient, quicker, and cheaper than travelling via car to Cambridge, and provides environmental benefits too. Car journeys contribute a significant amount towards our overall carbon footprint, and public transport allows you to reach a central point such as Cambridge directly rather than diverting via a car park.
If you regularly travel the same journey, or if you're planning in advance, you can make cost savings as the cost of running a car is more than just the cost of petrol. Public transport means no car insurance, tax, MOT or car maintenance.
There are a number of buses that stop close to Upper Cambourne. Local bus stops are shown on the map below. The map has been extracted from the www.cambridgeshirebus.info site, which can also be used to access real-time bus information by clicking on the bus stop of interest.

Wheelchair Accessible Buses
Stagecoach buses in Cambridgeshire operate with wheelchair accessible buses which have ramps, an official space for wheelchairs and a low floor capability which enables the bus platform to lower to the kerb level for easier boarding. Wheelchairs, disabled buggies, approved mobility scooters, small prams and unfolded buggies may only be carried on suitable low floor vehicles.
Whippet Coaches are also wheelchair accessible and have capacity for a single wheelchair user. They will carry most wheelchairs and electric wheelchairs up to 700mm wide, 1200mm long (including footplate) and a total weight of 300kg (including the occupant).
Concessionary Fare Scheme
As part of a governmental scheme initiated by the Department for Transport free off-peak local bus travel is provided to eligible older and disabled people anywhere in England. You can qualify for a Concessionary Bus Pass if you are the state pension age of a female or if you satisfy the disability eligibility criteria.
Within Cambridgeshire the pass means free travel Monday to Fridays after 9.30am until the last bus and all day on weekends and bank holidays. More information regarding eligibility and applying for a Concessionary Bus Pass can be found at the below sites:

Cambourne to Cambridge (C2C) Progress
The Cambourne to Cambridge (C2C) project is a new public transport route proposed to link Cambourne to Cambridge via the new Bourn Airfield development, a new Travel Hub at Scotland Farm, Hardwick and the West Cambridge campus.
A range of GCP schemes are underway to contribute to the development of a better, greener transport network for our busy region. Cambourne to Cambridge is one of four planned bus routes connecting growing communities with the city. It is complementing the Making Connections proposals by providing the infrastructure needed to enable more people to travel by public transport.
